The Impact Of Architecture & Environment

The buildings that we lead our lives in everyday have a huge impact on our overall well being. This may not be something that you think about often but our surroundings make an impact on us. Emotionally, physically, and even spiritually. The decor that we surround ourselves with and even the architecture of buildings we encounter all have impacts on us. You may not think about this often but once you think about it you’ll really realize that it’s true. Oh and lighting! Lighting has a huge impact on your wellbeing. Dim lights make us sleepy, maybe even sad while bright lighting can give us energy. Knowing that our physical environment affects our emotional well being should be of great concern to us all. There are ways that you can improve your immaterial by changing the material around you. Let’s talk about how!

First take a look at your environment. Really focus on the little things you might normally ignore. These may be things that you choose to ignore. Think about why you do that. Is it because the object or mess gives you stress? If so, try to eliminate it as opposed to ignoring it. Paying close attention to the little things may be a challenge at first, especially if you lead a busy life. However it’s an important step in radically changing your life. Now that you’ve identified the things in your home that either make you stressful or happy, sad or joyful, you’ll know what you want your space to look like. Of course there isn’t always much we can do to change the architecture of our homes, unless of course you’re willing and able to renovate, but that doesn’t mean that small changes can’t bring about big outcomes.

Now that you’ve identified what in your home environment you can do without and what you love about it you’re ready to embark on the next step. Purchasing decor items that positively affect you or that represent the kind of lifestyle you wish to lead is the natural next step in creating a welcoming environment. Science tells us that color can greatly impact our mood. Keep this in mind when redecorating. If you want to create a calming, relaxing room that you and your family can enjoy when you need to get away from life’s stresses you may want to focus on using blue as a primary color. If you want to create an environment that inspires play and creativity you may want to choose a nice yellow wall or add accents of red to your room to promote good energy.

Of course keeping these positive feelings about your environment as it changes may be tricky. If you’re travelling and need to find a hotel that’s right for you, you’ll want to visit Hotels.com. That way you’ll know exactly what you’re getting and if the environment of the room will work for you. There are ways of sprucing up your travel accommodations while on the road like bringing along your favorite pillow or a comforting trinket to place on your bedside table.

Creating the right environment for you is all about knowing what you need, understanding the impact that color can have on your mood, and creating flexible environments that travel with you.
